Important Note

If you are sending in a bug report related to the “Could not load file or assembly System. Web”, this is a known issue and I am working on a fix for the next release (should be out by April 25th).

In the mean time, if you turn off the auto update checking (set the “Keep Up to Date” value in the options to Never), the problem should go away.

Use the feedback form below to send me any thoughts, comments, issues, ideas, complaints, opinions, interjections, digressions, or recipes that you’d like to share.

I’d love to hear from you.

I wanted to thank you for such good software like WatchMe.
It is very useful sometimes. I’m using it often and I like it…

    Suggestions:

    1. Can you modify the taskbar icon for Win7 and Win8 so that it shows green when a timer is running and red when no timer is running? You had this in WinXP.
    2. Can you have the window launched so it remembers the last position in the screen I had it when I closed the program? With two large monitors, it would be nice to not have to re-position it every time I open it.

    Thank you.

The icon issue is one I’m looking into for a future version. In the next release, the app will open in the same screen position as when it was closed.

    Hi

thanks for great timer-program. Could you fix the icon so it looks nice in high resolution too? Now it gets enlarged and looks grainy compared to the other icons next to it…

I was actually working on the application this evening and switched to a newer high-resolution icon. It will be included in the next release.

    Hi,

I use watchme to track time on jobs I am doing and use the notes to record start and stop times and what tasks I have been doing while I am working. Is there any way I can print the note paper out so I can transfer the information onto a time sheet for payment? or do you have a better idea that I am not aware of? I use watch me the obvious way – maybe there is a better way to do it that I don’t know.

Thanks, would really appreciate the help as I am due to be paid shortly!

    Kind regards
    Christina.

PS I saved Watchme into Dropbox but when I sign in, it opens with a different timer so now I have two places I have to go to collate my time for the month? Your thoughts?

    • Scott
#10 written by Scott 5 months ago

At the current time there is no way to “print” out a timesheet, but you can export the timers into a CSV or XML format, that could be used to import into another time logging or accounting application. The CSV could also be opened in Excel.

As for tracking time in Dropbox, I have put my config files in Dropbox without a problem. Feel free to send an email to support (at) flamebrain (dot) com with more information on the problem you are having (screen shots would be great) and I’ll see if I can help you out.

      Cheers!

Thank you for that Scott, I will. Only problem now is that my computer at home has crashed so I will have to wait for it to be repaired before I can follow up on this.

        Have a Happy New Year.

I want to join the people here who are praising this program. I’ve tried many timekeeping programs, but WatchMe is the one I’ve stuck with. It’s just about perfect.

The one feature on my wish list would be a way to auto-sort the timers. E.g., a button to sort them alphabetically, or by most recently added, or most to least time, etc. Would help manage things when you’ve got a ton of timers in place.

  • Heinz
#13 written by Heinz 6 months ago

Since 30 Minutes I’,m testing the app – it is THE solution for my timetracking-tasks!

But there is one thing I miss very much: it should be possible to edit the counted time of each timer (not only 5, 10, 15… minutes). This should also be possible in a individual way.

Reason: if I had to stop my work because of a telefoncall I start a PAUSE timer. After the call is finnished I decide to which timer I have to add the counted PAUSE time –> unfortunately not possible yet…

    Greetings from Austria

      … ok … there is a page-up / page-down shortcut … this works for me!

#15 written by Scott 6 months ago

You’ll be happy to know that I just recently added the ability to manually set the time for a timer into the next version. I’m testing it now and I should have a release ready by the end of the year.

This is really the best time management program I’ve found – it’s lightweight, easy to use, and very customisable. Something that is seems to be missing, however (unless it exists and I haven’t found it yet), is the ability to set cascading countdowns, so that when one countdown reaches 0, the next on the list starts automatically. I use this for structuring work/break sessions, but since I am easily distracted, sometimes I will forget to hit “start” on the correct button, and then suddenly a 10 minute break turns into 2 hours.

Currently, the only solution I have found is to make each countdown cumulative, so that if I want countdown 1 to go after 20 minutes and countdown 2 to go off 10 minutes later, I enter countdown 2 as 30 minutes, and start them both at the same time, and create copies of them for as many repeats as I want to do. However, this makes it hard to change the increments easily, and seems unnecessarily complicated.

What I would love to see in the next version would be a “cascading countdowns” option, and a “loop” option for the countdowns.

    Thanks!

      #18 written by e2 6 months ago

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for when I found this program! I am using the same workaround (cumulative & start all).

The ability to set cascading countdowns (starting next at end of previous) is VITAL to me. I use it for the Pomodoro Technique and for FlyLady (3 sessions/per hour consisting of: 15 min work, 5 break).

Also, if I might add, the option to play music (not just .WAV files) WHILE THE TIMER IS RUNNING (like musical chairs) would be a wonderful addition. You would know when to change tasks when the music stops/changes and not be checking to see how much time you still have left.

Pomodoro is more for office things (computer, writing, etc.); while FlyLady can be used for the same tasks as Pomodoro, but in addition, can also be used for more physical tasks (filing, dishes, laundry folding. etc.)–which would sometimes take you away from the computer–so a musical-chair-like countdown would give you the ability to know that you are still supposed to be working on that task while that music is playing while not being necessarily near the computer. For office work it could be used with more quiet non-distracting music (classical) and for more physical tasks with music that was more energetic.

Love the program! But, if I could make it perfect (for :) me ), it would need to:
      * Play more than just .wav files
      * Option to use a “musical-chairs-like” (like Beat-the-Clock) countdown functionality
      * Cascading countdowns
      * Ability to pause/restart task timer (to be used with Pomodoro interruptions)

    Hi there,

    Cool program.

I found you while looking for a configurable timer for RTS gaming.

Is this an area where you are considering expanding? With a few tweaks for specific games I would imagine you could expand your demand and add a new demographic.

Drop me an email if you’re interested!

    Hi,
The Timer-countdown prog seemed to be really what I need. Timer side works OK, but when i want a countdown, the Countdown Clock starts at 1 hour and if I try to change that I get the below error message. What am I doing wrong? I have an ACER laptop with 4 gig of ram, running win7.

    Hi there
We love the program really works well
We have recently started using and it almost fits our need for a toilet break system, there are just a few things we were wondering

    1. How can we make it open more than once on the same desktop?
We need to see about 60 to 70 lines at the same time

    2. We need to get some sort of log that keeps track of all activations then emails to head office

Is there anything you can help us with these requirements

Is there any way to find a restore when the .bak file is corrupted at the the same save point as the main file? Right now neither file will open. A .bak does nothing if it corrupts with the original.

Possibly make a .bak file daily save along with the current default.

Can you help me? Love the timer. Use both the timing and the count down features, like that I can enter a client name or task on the timer lines so I remember which is which, I like the task change messages. I often get interrupted with phone calls, it is helpful in my setting guides for what can be interrupted and what can not.

I have been happily using WatchMe for a long time. Suddenly today it said my settings are corrupted would I like to try to restore from the backup. I said yes, it said unable to restore and closed. Tried again and said no to the restore, it said unable to start and closed. I went to programs and features to try to unistall it (running Windows 7) and could not find it in the list.
I went to CNet to redownload it, same thing happened. Came to flamebrain to redownload it same thing. Still not showing in the control panel programs so rather than uninstalling I deleted the ones I downloaded today.

#27 written by Scott 7 months ago

Sorry – just noticed this comment. When something like this happens the easiest thing to do is find the WatchMeConfig.xml file and delete it. You will lose your current timers but it will stop the application from generating an error on load. If you would like, you can send a copy of the WatchMeConfig.xml file to support (at) flamebrain.com before you delete it. That way I can take a look and see what (if anything) can be done to fix it. Hope that helps.

    1. I notice that the version I use on my office PC running Win XP shows a green triangle in the taskbar when the timer is running (which is very helpful), but, on my home PC running Win 7, I don’t see that green triangle. Unless I have something configured wrong on my Win 7 PC, is there any way you can make sure that feature works in Win 7?
    2. I posted this comment some time ago, but, to post again: It would be nice to have the timer launch in the same screen position that it was in when it closed. I use two large monitors and I always have to drag the program to a different part of my screen each time.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

I love your app, it’s the best that I’ve found.
I would just like to suggest for storing the timestamps of when we hit the Start/Stop buttons. This comes in handy for knowing when you started working on a specific task, when you took a break and when you continued.

I would love to see that feature implemented.

    Thank you,
    Maikel

Really love your program. One suggestion on a feature improvement is to put the name of the current running timer in the taskbar title with elapsed time, so that you can see quickly while minimized.

  • Brian
#33 written by Brian 10 months ago

I love your program but I was wondering if you can add end date/time to the timer.

Say the local time is 2:00PM now and you set the timer to 25 hours, it will display end date/time of 3:00PM on the next day.

Awesome product. I’m with Marcello, I would love to be able to change the location of the config.xml file. Not only would I love it to be located in my dropbox, but if I could get my business partner to be able to run and access the same data within in it, would be off the hook! If you can make all that happen, I’ll dontate $75 to the cause!! I’m a man of my word.

    • Scott
#38 written by Scott 1 year ago

      Hi Chuck,

The next version will have the ability to store the config files in different locations. I’m actually using an alpha version of it right now and I have it storing the config files in my Dropbox. It’s been working great – I can have the same set of timers on my home and work PCs. The next version is being delayed by the addition of countdown timers (which was the other big request besides moving the config files). No ETA as of yet (been very busy at work), but hopefully very soon. Stay tuned.

  • Scott
#39 written by Scott 1 year ago

I have used a script for a few years to do this, and finally found this today. I see mention of more detailed logs. Is it possible that date, start, end, elapsed, and notes could all be appended rather than a running total? So starting a timer would let me assign a note for a support ticket, and ending it would write to the log, but starting the timer again would append a new line item with a new note. Is that too complex a feature to expect in the future?
And any idea when your next update is possible?
Wonderful software, but I have to do detailed logs.

    • Scott
#40 written by Scott 1 year ago

I am in the process of writing some new functionality to create more detailed logs that could be used in the way you describe. I will eventually also be adding some internal reporting tools that user these logs so users can see how they make use of their time and generate basic reports like timesheets.

I will either be releasing this in the next version or the one after that. I have no delivery date for the next version (other than when I think it’s ready), but I now have some more free time to devote to the coding, so keep your eyes peeled.

I just confirmed today that recently the watchme timer is not calculating time accurately on my PC–I have only one timer running at a time. I had it running for actual time of 1.6 hours, and it displayed under 1.4. I have used watchme for over one year and noticed the problem only recently after upgrading to Windows 7.

Could the problem be due to CPU usage being too high? I do have multiple applications running (including a distributed computing application-World Community Grid) and numerous windows open in Firefox, so my CPU is probably quite occupied. However, I have always had the CPU issues and did not have a problem with watchme before.

    I really liked Watchme.

    Please advise. Thanks very much.

#51 written by Scott 1 year ago

      Hi Michael,

Thank you very much for the heads up. This is the first I have heard of this kind of an issue with the app. I have been running it on Windows 7 for a year or so without issue, but if the timers are not keeping their time properly than that is a major problem.

I will not be able to look at it this evening, but I will certainly look into it tomorrow evening when I have some more spare time and see if I can determine what the issue might be.

If I do find the problem, I guarantee that I will fix it and release a patch for the app ASAP.

Thank you once again for brining this to my attention.

Been using WatchMe for a week now, very handy!
I am a Design Engineer using it to keep track on various projects.
I use the Tabs as Company/Project and Timers as Tasks.
Your recent version now has $/hr which is very helpful.
I have suggestions – have separate options for each timer/task for $/hr.
As I charge different rates for different timer/tasks.
Other wise, this is so far the best timer utility todate!
Thanks and keep up with the excellent work.
